Hampton Roads Transit is seeking a dynamic Rail Transportation Manager to lead the Rail Transportation department in Norfolk, VA. You will drive performance, ensure safety, and manage unionized operations with strong communication.

The role requires a CDL‑B license, 5+ years in light rail management, and the ability to obtain endorsements. Expect oversight of procedures, training, emergency response, and staffing to maintain reliable service.

Competenze

• Associates Degree in Transportation Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in the operation of a Light Rail System; unionized environment.
• CDL Class B license and/or CDL permit; ability to obtain Virginia CDL Class B with air brake and passenger endorsements within 60 days.
• Must pass DOT physical examination.

Mansioni

• Provide day-to-day leadership for the Rail Transportation department.
• Plan, develop, implement and oversee light rail SOPs, emergency operating procedures, and rulebook.
• Oversee light rail Operations training and certification programs.
• Participate in budgeting, safety plans, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Manage staffing and resources to ensure on-time service and safety.
