Job summary

Hampton Roads Transit is seeking energetic individuals to join a dedicated team providing reliable public transportation in the Hampton Roads region.

The role involves safe operation of Light Rail Vehicles, strict adherence to safety standards, and excellent customer service. Candidates must pass operator training, obtain a Virginia CDL Class B, and complete a 90-day probation with additional training.

Qualifications

• Must pass LRV Operator training pre-screening quiz with 85%+.
• Must pass all quizzes/test for operator training with 85%+ and 100% on signal test.
• Must secure and maintain a Virginia CDL Class B license with end. optional endorsements.
• Ability to learn transit system safety regulations, schedules and fares.
• Ability to cooperate with supervisors and dispatchers.
• Must complete 90 working day probation plus 7 weeks training.
• Must read and understand training materials and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate LRV in revenue service per rules and procedures.
• Inspect vehicles and report defects to OCC to ensure safety.
• Inform customers and announce stops or disruptions.
• Assist customers and maintain courteous conduct.
• Produce written incident and accident reports as required.
• Mentor student operators when assigned.
