Job summary

Hampton Roads Transit is seeking a seasoned rail operations leader to guide day-to-day management of the Rail Transportation department. You will develop, implement, and oversee light rail standard operating procedures, emergency procedures, and the rulebook, while directing training and certification programs to ensure safety and compliance.

The role requires coordinating with multiple departments to drive objectives, manage budgets, and foster a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Proven ability to work with others in a unionized environment.
• Knowledge of Operating, Maintenance and Safety Rules and Regulations for Light Rail Systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership for the Rail Transportation department.
• Develop and oversee light rail SOPs, emergency procedures and rulebook.
• Oversee rail training and certification programs.
• Contribute to strategy, goals, objectives and performance indicators.
• Establish Rail Operations Control Center for routine and emergency operations.
• Ensure quality and safety are integrated into responsibilities.
