Job summary

Office of the Child Advocate (OCA) in New Mexico seeks a Deputy Director of Child Advocacy to help lead the day-to-day operations, oversee intake and investigations, develop recommendations, and prepare the annual report. This role reports to the State Child Advocate and will set strategic direction.

The ideal candidate has an advanced degree in law or public policy, strong supervisory experience, data analysis, and excellent writing skills.

Qualifications

• Requires advanced degree and leadership in public service.
• Experience with policy development and budgeting.
• Knowledge of child welfare policy and legislative processes.
• Ability to analyze data and report findings.
• Strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee intake and investigation operations and annual report preparation.
• Develop SOPs and coordinate staff training.
• Collaborate with state agencies, tribes, and partners.
• Manage budget planning and strategic initiatives.
• Represent the OCA in meetings and public engagements.
