Job summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Labor Relations Manager to lead labor relations activities across the organization. You will build positive relationships with union partners and represented bargaining units while advising HR colleagues on preventive actions and recommended strategies.

The role involves negotiating as chief spokesperson, collaborating with leadership, and administering labor contracts with interpretation support for managers and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Labor Relations, or related discipline.
• Juris Doctorate or Master’s degree preferred.
• Human resources professional certification preferred (PHR, SPHR, etc.)
• Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in labor and employee relations required.
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience collective bargaining required, Chief Spokesperson experience strongly preferred.
• Experience must include leading contract interpretation and implementation, grievance processing, performance management, and facilitating communication and working relationships with union organizations and management.
• Working knowledge of laws and regulatory standards such as FLSA, FMLA, NLRA, EEOC, Workers’ Compensation, ADA, HIPAA, COBRA and preferably The Joint Commission (TJC) principles.
• Experience with employment-related investigations and grievance administration.
• Effective internal and external consulting, facilitation, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise HR colleagues and others within the organization regarding labor relations matters, helping to develop the appropriate course of prevention and recommended action.
• Serve as chief negotiator representing MultiCare in collective bargaining negotiations.
• Collaborate with leadership and external labor partners to accomplish agreements and positive labor relations.
• Manage the administration of labor contracts; provide an interpretation of labor contracts to managers, employees and HR colleagues.
