Job summary

Illinois Education Job Bank is seeking a superintendent to lead Wood River-Hartford #15 Elementary School District, covering Pre-K through 8th grade across Wood River and Hartford communities. The role focuses on safe, supportive learning environments, strategic budget management, and strong community partnerships.

The position requires an NCATE-accredited master's degree and a valid Superintendent endorsement.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an NCATE-accredited college or university.
• Valid Administrative Certificate with a Superintendent endorsement fulfilling Illinois certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Attends and participates in Board meetings, with exceptions for executive sessions.
• Develops and recommends Board policies and procedures and implements them.
• Directs annual operating budget preparation and reporting to the Board for approval.
• Prepares Board-ready recommendations with necessary facts and alternatives for informed decisions.
• Informs Board about programs, practices, and school district problems and trends.
• Leads discussions with teachers and staff to improve schools and welfare.
• Keeps the public informed about educational practices and district policies.
• Delegates tasks while remaining responsible for actions taken.
• Keeps informed of educational trends via study, visits, and conferences.
• Recommends curricula, texts, and schedules; maintains comprehensive records.
• Acts as custodian of contracts, securities, and district documents.
• Prepares the annual school calendar and major deadlines.
• Develops Board meeting agendas and guides principals in implementing quality programs.
• Performs administrative evaluations and recommends hires.
