Job summary

Millsaps College seeks a Director of Information Technology to provide strategic leadership for the College’s technology environment. You will guide cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and infrastructure while aligning technology investments with institutional goals.

The role requires a proven track record in IT leadership, budget oversight, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration with faculty, staff, and administrators. On-site opportunity in Jackson, MS.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in IT/related field; master’s degree is desirable.
• Significant IT leadership experience across multiple technology disciplines.
• Experience developing technology strategy, managing operations, budgets, vendors, and complex initiatives.
• Broad knowledge of modern enterprise tech: cloud/SaaS, networking, cybersecurity, data integration, and end-user services.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, decision-making, and project-management skills.
• Ability to communicate complex tech risks and opportunities to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in higher education or complex mission-driven environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the IT department aligned with the College’s strategic goals.
• Develop and execute a multi-year technology strategy supporting academic, administrative, and financial priorities.
• Evaluate needs, investments, risks, and opportunities with leadership and campus partners.
• Lead governance, risk management, accessibility, and responsible use of emerging technologies.
• Oversee cybersecurity and data protection, identity/access management, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage ERP/SIS, Microsoft 365, cloud services, reporting systems, and integrations.
• Oversee data governance, analytics, and decision-support initiatives to improve data quality and access.
• Ensure reliable, secure IT infrastructure and services, including networks, servers, and endpoints.
• Lead disaster recovery, business continuity, and service-delivery improvements.
• Develop operating and capital budgets, procurement, licensing, and vendor management.
• Recruit, develop, and supervise IT staff; foster a service-oriented culture.
