Zusammenfassung

First Quality is seeking an experienced IP Counsel to provide a full range of IP services across its family of companies. You will develop and execute patent strategies, assess risks, and work with Product Development to secure IP rights that support business plans.

The role requires strong communication skills, a JD and USPTO registration, and the ability to travel about 15–20%. You will train internal teams and coordinate with outside counsel on patent filings and prosecutions.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum of 6 years of IP legal matters experience in law firm or corporate setting, including patent prep/prosecution, opinions and trade secrets.
• Exposure to IP litigation, agreement work and regulatory issues is a plus.
• J.D. degree, bar admission, and USPTO registration required.
• Undergraduate engineering/chemistry or similar is preferred.
• Ability to articulate risks and strategies clearly to non-lawyers.

• Provide a full range of counseling and expertise in IP law for First Quality businesses.
• Develop and execute business-focused patent strategies to enhance market positions.
• Collaborate with Product Development and other partners to procure IP rights.
• Review third-party patents and prepare freedom-to-operate opinions and risk advice.
• Conduct IP training for internal teams.
• Manage outside counsel for patent drafting, filing and prosecution.
• Prepare and review confidentiality agreements, joint development agreements and IP clauses.
• Maintain knowledge of commercial and technology development strategies across businesses.
• Stay current on competitors' patent positions.
