Job summary

Qnity seeks a Senior Counsel - Intellectual Property to lead patent preparation, prosecution, and strategic IP counseling. This hybrid role blends in-office and remote work, with priority for candidates in commutable distance to Marlborough, MA, reporting to the Chief IP Counsel and partnering with R&D, engineering, and commercial teams.

The ideal candidate has a J.D., USPTO registration, 5+ years of IP experience, and a technical degree in Chemistry or Materials Science; you will shape IP

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
• Experience drafting, prosecuting, and managing patent portfolios internationally.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Lead U.S. and international patent portfolio preparation and management with inventors and outside counsel.
• Perform FTO analyses and patent risk assessments to support product development.
• Provide strategic IP counsel on commercialization, licensing, collaborations, and M&A.
• Advise leadership on IP risks and opportunities to align with corporate goals.
• Support patent litigation, opposition proceedings, and enforcement with external counsel.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and help develop the IP function.
