First Quality, a family‑owned company with a strong Pennsylvania footprint, seeks an experienced IP attorney to lead patent strategy and risk management across its portfolio. You will counsel multiple businesses, coordinate with product teams, and manage outside counsel to secure IP rights and freedom-to-operate positions.

You will review third‑party patents, draft opinions, and train colleagues on IP issues, while staying aligned with the company’s growth plan and competitive landscape.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum of 6 years’ experience working on IP matters in a law firm or corporate setting, including patent preparation and prosecution, opinion work and handling trade secret matters.
• Exposure to IP litigation, agreement work and regulatory issues is a plus.
• Must be a member in good standing of at least one state bar and registered to practice before the USPTO.
• An undergraduate degree in engineering, chemistry, microbiology or similar discipline is preferred.
• Experience developing and executing strategic IP initiatives to add business value.
• Ability to explain IP risks and strategies clearly to non-technical audiences.

• Provide a full range of counseling and expertise to First Quality businesses in IP law.
• Develop and execute business-focused patent strategies to enhance marketplace positions.
• Collaborate with Product Development and other partners to secure IP rights.
• Review third-party patents and prepare or oversee freedom-to-operate opinions.
• Conduct IP training for internal teams.
• Manage outside counsel on drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications.
• Prepare and review confidentiality agreements, joint development agreements and IP clauses in contracts.
• Maintain knowledge of commercial and technology development strategies across First Quality businesses.
• Monitor competitor patent positions.
