Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. is seeking an Investment and Partnerships Manager to lead venture investments and strategic partnerships across North America.

The role involves identifying opportunities in digitization, electrification, and priority tech areas, coordinating due diligence, and driving cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, procurement, legal and finance teams. Relocation is not provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate development, venture capital, investment banking, strategy consulting or related
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to influence stakeholders
• Fluent in English

Responsibilities

• Independently manage defined investment and strategic partnership projects from opportunity identification through evaluation, execution and ongoing tracking
• Partner with business-unit and technical stakeholders to identify gaps and evaluate build, buy, invest or partner options
• Screen and assess companies, technologies and potential partners for strategic fit and viability
• Lead or coordinate due diligence workstreams with internal experts
• Execute venture investment, M&A and divestment analyses with market research and valuation support
• Plan and manage proof-of-concept and pilot activities with cross-functional teams and external partners
• Develop and negotiate engagement structures with startups, tech firms and venture capital firms
• Monitor trends and translate findings into recommendations for internal stakeholders
• Build relationships with founders, investors and industry participants
• Improve investment and partnership processes and reporting
• Coordinate portfolio investments and collaboration activities; escalate and resolve issues
• Provide guidance and coaching to less-experienced staff
