Job summary

RugsUSA in New York, NY, is seeking an Inventory and Demand Planner to align sales, margins, and stock with financial goals. You will analyze trends, product lifecycles, and supplier capabilities to ensure timely availability and optimal quantities.

The ideal candidate is analytical, commercially minded, and capable of translating category strategy into actionable plans. This on-site role collaborates with Marketing, Sales, and vendors to balance growth with inventory health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Operations, Retail Management, Business Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 4+ years of experience in retail merchandise planning, merchandising, demand forecasting, or inventory management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root-cause analysis and drive improvements.
• Strategic thinker with big-picture planning and attention to detail.
• Results-driven in a fast-paced environment with prioritization of competing needs.
• Strong understanding of retail math, inventory planning, forecasting, OTB, and financial planning fundamentals.
• Cross-functional relationship-building with key stakeholders.
• Strong critical thinking balancing customer needs, inventory productivity, sales opportunities, and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Own demand, inventory, forecasting, replenishment, and OTB planning for an assigned business segment.
• Develop bottom-up SKU and category plans and reconcile with top-down targets.
• Analyze sales, margin, sell-through, velocity, and product lifecycle to build forecasts.
• Calculate receipt and inventory needs and present buying strategies to leadership.
• Collaborate with suppliers to confirm quantities, timing, and receipts.
• Manage OTB, on-order inventory, and receipt flow with Marketing, Sales, and vendors.
