HR Knowledge Source is assisting a confidential higher education institution in the Washington, DC region to identify an experienced Total Rewards leader for an interim consulting engagement. You will lead a team that supports staff, faculty, student workers, and retirees, delivering strategic compensation leadership and program design.

The role focuses on merit planning, market data analysis, and policy development, with a hybrid on-site presence in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

Experience leading compensation programs and executive compensation analysis.
Ability to design and administer compensation programs aligned with university objectives.
Strong consultation and communication skills with senior leaders.
Advanced financial analysis, modeling, budgeting, and data analysis (Excel).

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the compensation function.
Lead a compensation team of analysts.
Manage compensation consulting for executive leadership and department heads.
Design, administer, and evaluate compensation programs for recruitment and retention.
Lead annual compensation initiatives: merit planning, market adjustments, budget projections.
Establish salary structures, job analyses, and market pricing methodologies.
Conduct benchmarking using CUPA and other data sources.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and business leaders for effective administration.
Provide guidance on job architecture and workforce planning.
Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Deliver compensation-related training and communications for leaders.
Support labor relations initiatives and wage negotiations when applicable.
Drive process improvements and knowledge transfer.
