Job summary

Midcontinent-Independent-System (MISO) invites future leaders to join the 2027 Summer Internship Program. This on-site role offers hands-on projects in economics, engineering, data science, or public policy, with a focus on grid reliability and market dynamics.

Expect ~40 hours weekly in Eagan, MN or Carmel, IN, plus development programming and networking opportunities. Selected interns will analyze trends, refine inputs, forecast, and present final project results to leadership, while engaging

Qualifications

• Pursuing Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Public Policy, or related degree.
• Strong critical thinking, research ability, and interest in strategy, policy, market dynamics, or risk assessment.
• Proficient in Visual Studio Code, GitHub, Power BI, PowerPoint, and commonly used analytical tools.
• Demonstrate curiosity, eagerness to learn, and strong respect and collaboration.
• Excited to work with real-world datasets, dashboards, trend reports, long-term planning materials, and strategic briefs.
• Able to communicate clearly and synthesize insights for leadership audiences.

Responsibilities

• Analyze trends, load growth patterns, and emerging risks to support long-term strategy and planning.
• Refine data inputs, compare regional trends, and collaborate with teammates to build meaningful takeaways.
• Contribute to forecasting and strategic analysis projects to anticipate grid evolution and reliability.
• Attend community service events, intern socials, networking, and development programming.
• Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing project work, recommendations, and impact areas.
