Job summary

Atkore, headquartered in Harvey, IL, is seeking a Buyer II to manage procurement for indirect categories including IT, MRO, and facilities. Reporting to the Sr. Commodity Manager, you will drive strategic sourcing and best-value purchasing across the RSC network.

The role requires at least 2 years of sourcing experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to partner with multiple departments to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.

Qualifications

• BS degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in sourcing indirect materials.
• Ability to work independently.
• Advanced time management and analytical skills.
• Proven working experience as a project administrator.
• Strong analytical and Microsoft Office software skills.
• Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
• Ability to adapt well to change.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with others with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor.

Responsibilities

• Develops supply and sourcing strategies with research and planning.
• Leads sourcing initiatives including timelines and deliverables.
• Research cost saving opportunities and drive cost savings programs.
• Develop strategic supplier relationships to leverage suppliers.
• Manages supplier compliance with agreements.
• Monitors supplier performance against goals and takes corrective action.
• Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms with suppliers.
• Develop cross-functional relationships to support CI culture.
• Apply expertise to recommend cost-effective alternatives.
• Develop procurement best practices, policies and procedures.
• Create centralized procurement processes to support RSCs and facilities.
• Create purchase orders and reconcile invoices in ERP systems.
• Participate in strategic sourcing decisions to achieve goals.
• Facilitate meetings with vendors on quality, delivery, and cost.
• Support Kaizen and Lean initiatives.
• Collaborate with Quality, Logistics, Finance, and Manufacturing to optimize pricing and delivery.
• Manage ad hoc projects and maintain procurement databases.
