Job summary

Canopy Aerospace & Defense is seeking a Manager, Human Resources Operations to design and run the HR function systems and processes. The role is hands-on, with primary ownership of the HRIS, and will partner with Payroll and IT to build workflows and governance across the business.

The successful candidate will be a strategic executor familiar with manufacturing environments, bringing strong project management, data governance, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in HR operations, HRIS, projects, or related mix.
• Experience owning an HRIS as primary administrator.
• Led at least one full system implementation or major reconfiguration with go-live accountability.
• Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience partnering with Payroll, Finance, IT, and operating teams on shared processes.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary owner of the HRIS on the HR side, including configuration, workflows, security, and release management.
• Own integrations between the HRIS and connected systems (ATS, background checks, benefits, IT provisioning).
• Collaborate with Payroll to design workflows, handoffs, and controls between HR and Payroll.
• Perform root cause analysis on process and system failures and implement fixes.
• Design and build processes and workflows within HR and those intersecting with other functions.
• Partner with Finance, Payroll, IT, Operations, Quality, and site leadership to ensure cross-functional usability.
• Lead system implementations, module rollouts, and major reconfigurations to go-live.
• Set data governance standards across operating companies and run data integrity audits.
• Serve as escalation point for system issues; manage vendor/partner relationships.
• Develop HR reporting and dashboards for leadership and Finance.
• Map and redesign HR processes across operating companies.
• Design employee lifecycle workflows from requisition through onboarding, changes, transfers, leaves, and offboarding.
• Build automation and self-service to reduce manual work.
• Write and maintain HR process library and SOPs.
• Own recurring cycles (open enrollment, performance, compensation).
• Support compliance operations and audit readiness.
• Project-manage HR initiatives with plans, owners, dates, and status reports.
• Train HR team and people leaders on new processes and systems.
• Adopt AI tools to reduce manual work and improve efficiency.
• Handle sensitive personally identifiable information with privacy standards.
