Job summary

Vortex Companies, LLC in Chesapeake, VA, is seeking an accomplished Human Resources Manager to align HR programs with business goals across multiple locations. This hands-on leader will drive employee relations, performance management, talent development, and organizational effectiveness in a fast-growth environment.

You will partner with leaders to build high-performing teams, ensure compliance with employment laws, manage onboarding, and maintain HRIS data while traveling 25–40% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Senior HR Generalist or equivalent progressive HR experience.
• 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
• Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Experience supporting multiple locations or business units.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to align HR strategies with operational goals.
• Serve as the primary HR advisor for employee relations matters.
• Conduct workplace investigations while maintaining confidentiality and objectivity.
• Maintain positive employee relations through visibility at field locations.
• Coach managers through performance concerns, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, high-performance work environment.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure effective hiring strategies.
• Support onboarding of new employees.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
• Monitor turnover, retention, engagement, and time-to-fill.
• Partner with leadership to improve employee retention and overall employee experience.
