Job summary

Churchill Downs Incorporated is seeking a Senior Director of Human Resources – Gaming Operations to lead HR strategy and operations for Colonial Downs Group and Virginia properties. This role partners with property leaders to align HR programs with business goals, including recruitment, onboarding, retention, performance, and development, while balancing employee advocacy with operating needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field.
• Minimum ten (10) years of progressive human resources leadership experience preferred; other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Certifications such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business goals across all gaming properties.
• Serve as a member of the Gaming Operations HR Leadership Team and advisor for the Virginia pod SLT.
• Manage competing priorities with both short-term and long-term goals.
• Advise on organizational design, workforce planning and talent development.
• Build collaborative relationships with colleagues across properties and corporate.
• Lead employee engagement initiatives, surveys, feedback loops, and action planning.
• Drive HR solutions, process improvements and best practices; implement projects.
