Job summary

Midcoast Maine Community Action seeks an experienced HR Manager to lead the HR department and support a mission-driven, people-centered workplace.

The role oversees HR operations, policy administration, compliance, employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, compensation and benefits, payroll coordination, and supervision of the HR/Payroll Assistant, while partnering with senior leadership to implement workforce strategies across the agency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, organizational psychology, business administration, or related field; master’s preferred.
• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP or other HR certification preferred.
• Minimum 5–7 years progressive HR experience with 2+ years supervisory experience.
• Nonprofit/community-based HR experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead HR operations, policy administration, compliance, employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, compensation and benefits, payroll coordination, and supervision of the HR/Payroll Assistant.
• Partner with senior leadership to support workforce practices across the agency.
• Develop and maintain HR programs, systems, policies, and processes for recruitment, orientation, onboarding, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance management, and training.
• Ensure compliance with agency standards, grant/contract requirements, licensing standards, and applicable laws.
• Report to President/CEO and collaborate with senior management on HR strategies and donor/board expectations.
• Promote a respectful, inclusive, mission-driven workplace and fair employment practices.
