Job summary

Achievement First seeks a strategic Managing Director of People Partners to lead the Talent Team across NY, CT, and RI. You will partner with school and network leaders, shape workforce planning, organizational design, and people strategy, while guiding employee relations and compliance efforts.

The role drives data-informed HR initiatives, builds manager capability, and leads HR projects from design to execution in a hybrid NYC/CT setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of HR generalist experience including recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, learning and development, culture, and compliance.
• 2+ years in an HR leadership role, with strategic and operational impact.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws (CT, NY, RI) and experience with large organizations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as strategic HR business partner to school/network leaders; translate goals into people plans.
• Lead employee relations, coaching managers on performance and discipline with fairness.
• Ensure policy compliance and maintain the employee handbook.
• Oversee HR projects, metrics, dashboards and risk management.
• Develop manager tools and scalable playbooks; drive leadership development.
