Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) seeks a senior HR leader for the Filer City Mill to oversee all HR activities, negotiations and compliance. This role includes bargaining, arbitration leadership and directing labor relations efforts, with a focus on legal compliance, safety, and positive external relations.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Labor & Industrial Relations, 5+ years in HR and labor relations, and at least 3 years negotiating contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Labor & Industrial Relations or similar.
• Minimum 5 years in Human Resources & Labor Relations.
• At least 3 years negotiating labor contracts and handling arbitrations.
• Ability to relate to all levels from hourly to CEO.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate collective bargaining agreement and serve as chief company spokesperson.
• Maintain ISO Quality System responsibilities compliance.
• Represent the company at grievance and arbitration hearings.
• Liaise with outside legal firms and corporate legal on lawsuits and charges.
• Administer salary programs and ensure budget compliance.
• Ensure compliance with all PCA HR policies.
• Monitor manpower budgets for hourly and salary staff.
• Direct mill security for property, equipment and personnel.
• Oversee EEO and affirmative action compliance.
• Direct mill safety program to reduce workers' comp costs.
• Recruit exempt and non-exempt employees.
• Oversee salary and hourly benefit programs.
• Serve as mill liaison with media to maintain a positive public image.
