Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) seeks a seasoned Human Resources and Labor Relations leader to direct all HR activities for the Deridder Mill. You will administer the labor contract, support negotiations, and ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws while building a skilled workforce and managing safety and EEO programs.

You will oversee salary administration, budgets for hourly and salary staff, recruit for exempt and non-exempt roles, and coordinate with outside firms on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in labor and industrial relations or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in Human Resources & Labor Relations, at least 3 years in labor relations, administering labor contracts and assisting in negotiation.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Ability to relate to all levels in the organization from hourly to President and CEO; knowledge of federal & state workers' compensation system.

Responsibilities

• Administer the collective bargaining agreement and assist in negotiations.
• Act as chief spokesperson at grievance meetings and assist in arbitration hearings.
• Liaise with outside law firms and corporate labor and legal departments regarding lawsuits and charges.
• Administer PCA Salary Administration program and ensure budget compliance.
• Ensure compliance with PCA HR policies.
• Prepare and monitor manpower budgets for hourly and salary personnel.
• Direct mill security forces for protection of mill property, equipment and personnel.
• Ensure compliance with EEO and affirmative action requirements.
• Recruit exempt and non-exempt employees; administer salary and hourly benefits programs.
• Liaise with media to maintain a positive public image.
