Job summary

Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut is seeking a Senior Director of Human Resources in Bridgeport, CT. This hands-on leader will drive HR strategy, compliance, and operations across the nonprofit organization, including workforce planning, talent development, employee relations, and benefits management.

You will partner with senior leadership to strengthen the HR team, modernize processes, and ensure data integrity across systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Admin, Organizational Development, Management, or related field required; master’s preferred.
• Significant progressive HR experience, including senior-level responsibility and transformation success.
• Strong knowledge of federal and CT employment laws and employment risk management.
• Hands-on ADP experience and HRIS proficiency, with data reporting skills.
• Ability to lead change and advise executives; fair, decisive personnel decisions.
• Experience managing benefits, HR vendors, and multi-site operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute HR priorities aligned with mission and operational needs.
• Oversee recruitment, workforce planning, and internal development.
• Lead employee relations investigations, performance issues, and accommodations.
• Ensure compliance with laws, policies, records, and training.
• Oversee compensation, benefits, and vendor relationships.
• Provide HR operations leadership, reporting, and system optimization.
• Lead change management and build cross-functional partnerships.
