Martin Transportation Systems is seeking an experienced HR Director to lead enterprise-wide HR strategy and operations across our family of businesses, reporting to the Director of Risk with a dotted-line to the CEO. This role partners with executive leadership to strengthen talent, compliance, employee relations, recruiting, and organizational effectiveness across a diverse workforce.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
• Ten+ years of progressive HR leadership experience across multi-site/multi-state operations.
• Onsite work in Byron Center, Michigan with regular travel to company locations.
• Experience supporting Canadian employees and Ontario-focused requirements preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law, employee relations, investigations, and compliance.
• Experience supporting both union and non-union workforces; collective bargaining exposure preferred.
• Ability to balance strategic HR leadership with day-to-day operations.
• Excellent judgment, communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and problem-solving.
• Strong analytics skills and use of HR metrics and HRIS data.
• Experience in transportation, logistics, manufacturing, warehousing, or similar environments.
• DOT knowledge preferred; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and develop the HR function across multiple operating companies and locations.
• Partner with senior leaders on workforce planning, staffing, retention, and engagement.
• Oversee employee relations, investigations, performance management, and separations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and Canadian employment laws and policies.
• Guide HR support for union and non-union workforces, including labor relations and grievances.
• Lead recruiting strategy and execution for various professional and operations roles.
• Oversee benefits, leave administration, recognition, training, and development programs.
• Use HRIS data and metrics to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
• Develop, maintain, and improve HR policies, processes, and documentation.
• Build relationships with leaders, supervisors, and employees as a trusted resource.
• Manage competing HR priorities across dispersed locations with consistent practices.
