Job summary

Martin Transportation Systems Inc. seeks an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Director to lead enterprise-wide HR strategy and operations across our family of businesses in Byron Center, Michigan.

You will partner with executive leadership to strengthen talent, compliance, employee relations, recruiting, and organizational effectiveness across a diverse workforce. You will report to the Director of Risk with dotted-line to the CEO, travel regularly to company locations, and lead HR programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive HR leadership across multi-site, multi-state operations.
• Ability to work onsite in Byron Center, MI with regular travel to company locations.
• Experience supporting Canadian employees and operations, especially Ontario; strong preference.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide HR strategy and operations across multiple entities.
• Partner with executives on workforce planning, staffing, retention, and engagement.
• Oversee employee relations, investigations, performance management, and separations.
• Ensure compliance with U.S., state, local laws and Canadian employment laws.
• Guide labor relations, grievance administration, and collective bargaining support as needed.
• Lead recruiting for professional, operational, and leadership roles.
