Job summary

Ambassador, A Villa Center in Detroit, MI is seeking an HR leader to manage day-to-day people operations onsite. The role involves coordinating candidate records, background checks, fingerprinting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and compliance with HIPAA and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years HR Generalist/Assistant experience, a Bachelor’s in HR, and HR system experience (ATS/HRIS/LMS). Onsite work in Detroit with competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in HRM or related field preferred.
• HRCI or SHRM certification preferred.
• At least 5 years of HR Generalist or Assistant experience preferred.
• At least 2 years in a skilled nursing facility or hospital environment preferred.
• Experience with HR systems including ATS, HRIS, and LMS.

Responsibilities

• Manage candidate records through ATS and train hiring managers on process.
• Complete background checks through ATS links before new hires begin.
• Ensure fingerprinting is initiated prior to new employee start dates.
• Enter new hires into HRIS after background check completion and complete onboarding.
• Maintain PAN documentation for hiring and status changes (FT/PT, pay changes, transfers, terminations).
• Schedule and deliver weekly new hire orientation with HR topics.
• Administer benefits on day one and process monthly payroll deductions.
• Review and submit payroll for processing.
• Support recruiting through job fairs, partnerships, and social media management.
• Handle employee questions and disciplinary actions with managers for consistency.
• Lead investigations into harassment and safety matters with confidentiality.
• Manage FMLA and other leaves per policy and HIPAA compliance.
