Job summary

Pawnee Mental Health is seeking an experienced HR Director to lead HR operations across a ten-county footprint, including remote staff in six states. You will shape culture, develop policies, oversee compensation and benefits, and ensure compliance with employment laws.

The role partners with senior leaders to drive strategic people initiatives and organizational growth. You will manage payroll, benefits, training, and investigations while supervising a skilled HR team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR management, business administration, public administration, industrial psychology or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in an HR leadership role.
• Considerable knowledge of federal and state employment law and HR practices.
• HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP).

Responsibilities

• Oversee HR operations across Pawnee's 10 county range, including remote employees in 6 states.
• Direct recruitment initiatives for clinicians, physicians and management teams.
• Develop, maintain and interpret HR policy; author the Employee Handbook.
• Provide coaching to management on performance management and related issues.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and reduce risk.
• Develop and administer wage and salary plans with FLSA compliance.
• Coordinate job description development and maintenance.
• Respond to workers' compensation, unemployment and FMLA claims.
• Evaluate and adjust benefits plans; oversee day-to-day benefits administration.
• Coordinate investigations of harassment, discrimination, grievances and related issues.
• Oversee payroll processing and manage business insurance portfolio.
• Lead training on HR topics and supervise HR staff.
