Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS) seeks an experienced HR Deputy Assistant Director for the ChildSupport Administration to guide the Central office and five local jurisdictions, directing HR officers and Personnel Associates in planning, organizing, and evaluating functions.

The role oversees Employment Services, Classification & Compensation, Health Benefits/Retirement, and Employee Engagement across ~400 staff, with emphasis on Workday processing and compliance with HR laws.

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience in HR with four years in recruitment and employment services.
• Experience in classification and compensation, employee relations, and salary administration.
• Experience with HR policy formulation and HR program evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to senior leadership on HR policy, Workday, Benefits, and Employment Services.
• Plan, direct, manage, and evaluate daily activities of HR units.
• Oversee onboarding/offboarding processes and equipment management.
• Ensure compliance with IRS training and essential employee programs.
• Coordinate recruitment strategies and exception requests.
• Oversee investigations, grievances, and appeals.
• Ensure office location compliance and performance planning.
