Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field and five years of experience in program development, management and grant writing or equivalent.
• Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, Internet and e-mail.
• Knowledge of higher education advising and advocacy.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record; travel required; background check.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Meskwaki Higher Education Program.
• Administer BIA Higher Education/Adult Vocational Training/Adult Education programs.
• Review and approve student financial aid applications.
• Research and provide scholarship information to applicants.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress and eligibility for financial assistance.
• Maintain program compliance with tribal and federal codes and policies.
• Provide academic and career advising to participants as needed.
• Supervise Meskwaki Higher Education staff.
• Develop and monitor budgets for the Higher Education Program.
• Submit quarterly, annual and funding reports.
• Coordinate activities to increase interest in higher education and vocational studies.
• Coordinate college/training school tours for potential students.
• Research and provide information on summer college prep programs.
• Serve on boards or committees addressing education issues.
