Job summary

Sac and Fox Tribe of Iowa's Meskwaki Settlement School seeks a Superintendent to lead MSS, align operations with Tribal policies, and ensure day-to-day administration and compliance with grant terms.

The Superintendent will implement strategic plans, manage budgets, supervise principals and staff, communicate with Tribal Council and external agencies, and foster strong community relations while advancing student achievement and safety.

Qualifications

• Requires Superintendent Certificate and five years of government or school administration experience.
• Background check required by Public Law 101-630 and related acts.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Native American preference and experience with BIE/Tribal Grant School preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages MSS operations to support the School's mission, vision and goals within resources.
• Leads coordination with Tribal Council, leadership and outside agencies; communicates with families and community.
• Oversees budgeting processes, cost control and allocation of resources; prepares annual budget requests.
• Supervises Principals and staff; hiring, evaluation and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Ensures compliance with Tribal policies, federal laws and state laws related to BIE/Tribal Grant School.
• Represents MSS to the Tribal Community, government agencies and public entities.
• Oversees facilities, safety, and school property operations; monitors and improves procedures.
• Leads development and implementation of school goals and strategic plans.
