Job summary

NEW Health Administration in Chewelah, WA is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive accurate financial reporting for a nonprofit healthcare system. The role oversees payroll, grants, audits, and internal controls to sustain financial health and regulatory adherence.

The ideal candidate holds a 4-year degree in accounting/finance, CPA preferred, with at least five years of responsible accounting experience in healthcare or nonprofit settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA license or CPA candidate preferred.
• Five years of progressively responsible accounting experience required.
• Experience in healthcare, nonprofit accounting, grant management, and audit coordination preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee accounting operations, including general ledger activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, regulatory standards, and organizational policies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls designed to protect organizational assets and promote financial accuracy.
• Coordinate annual audits, financial reviews, and compliance reporting activities.
• Monitor grant expenditures and financial reporting to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
• Provide financial analysis, reporting, and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Oversee payroll accounting processes and related financial reconciliations.
• Support revenue cycle performance through monitoring, reporting, and collaboration with operational leaders.
• Supervise assigned finance staff and promote accountability, professional development, and continuous improvement.
• Assist with budget development, forecasting, and organizational financial planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Travel may be required
