Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a seasoned Director of Business Development (Finance) in the Chicago, IL area. The role leads growth initiatives, strengthens client relationships, and expands market presence across environmental sectors.

Travel is expected regionally as part of driving revenue and securing contracts. The ideal candidate brings extensive BD, sales, and industry knowledge, with a proven track record of revenue growth and strategic leadership within environmental consulting.

Qualifications

• B.S. in environmental science, geology, engineering or related physical science degree.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience.
• 10+ years of business development, sales, client management, or consulting experience.
• 5+ years in environmental consulting, engineering consulting, or related professional services.
• Demonstrated success generating revenue growth and winning new business opportunities.
• Strong network of industry contacts within environmental, industrial, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, real estate, government, or related sectors.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to influence executive-level decision makers.
• Driving on an occasional basis. Valid driver's license and good driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
• Identify and pursue opportunities within targeted markets, industries, and geographies.
• Conduct market research and competitive analyses to identify trends and opportunities.
• Establish annual growth plans, sales goals, and key performance metrics.
• Develop and maintain executive-level client relationships and act as trusted advisor.
• Lead pursuit strategies, proposals, and pricing discussions with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with technical and project teams to develop winning proposals.
• Track activities in CRM and maintain accurate sales forecasts.
