Job summary

MISO is seeking a Strategic Assessments Engineer III/Planner III to assess long-term regulatory, economic, and industry trends shaping generation and transmission infrastructure. The role translates complex data into insights and presents findings to internal teams, regulators, and industry leaders to influence policy and planning.

Ideal candidates will have a strong analytical mindset, experience in power systems economics or regulation, and the ability to communicate recommendations clearly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, Public Policy, Environmental Science, or related field (required).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related power systems engineering, economics, policy development, natural gas systems engineering, environmental issues management, or regulatory standards experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing industry trends and regulatory developments to assess impact on power system planning.
  • Evaluating reliability and adequacy of the grid using engineering and economic tools.
  • Monitoring energy issues including gas-electric interdependencies to guide strategy and mitigate risk.
  • Creating reports and presentations tailored to varied audiences.
  • Collaborating across teams to solve challenges and ensure regulatory alignment.
  • Engaging regulators and industry partners to build consensus and support sound decisions.
