MISO is seeking a Principal Engineer - Planning R&D to advance analytic methods for evaluating grid technologies and planning changes. You will combine deep power systems knowledge with industry context to anticipate impacts on MISO's processes and systems and develop practical solutions for the grid of the future.

You will collaborate across disciplines, integrate stability metrics into planning and decision workflows, and translate R&D insights into updated standards and guidance.

Qualifications

Master's degree in electrical engineering or related field
At least ten years of relevant experience
Experience in the electric energy industry and power system modeling

Responsibilities

Develop novel analytical methods to reduce modeling intensity for R&D workflows.
Create prototypes and test benches (PSCAD, ETRAN+) for evaluating stability challenges.
Establish planning timeframe processes for integrating stability into long-range studies.
Define monitoring and validation processes linking planning analysis to operations.
