Job summary

University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is seeking a Director, Contracts & Grants for the Department of Radiation Oncology in the School of Medicine. This leadership role directs contract and grant operations, ensures compliance with sponsor guidelines, and guides strategic initiatives across the unit.

The role requires extensive experience in research administration, supervisory skills, and familiarity with CRA/CPA qualifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible research administration experience; at least 4 years in full lifecycle research administration.
• 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience.
• CRA or CPA certification preferred.
• Knowledge of financial disclosure reporting; substitution rules may apply for education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to institute/center/department ensuring proposals and awards comply with all policies.
• Direct authorization and transmittal of proposals; negotiate complex agreements and provide guidance on lifecycle contract/grant functions.
• Lead operational aspects of contracts and grant management and policy development.
• Provide strategic planning input; deliver ad hoc reports to support strategic initiatives.
• Oversee documentation for compliance, manage sub awards, and ensure data integrity and reporting.
