Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a Manager, Government Relations to represent and advance our policy agenda before elected officials and decision-makers. You will steward a multifaceted strategic plan to protect, defend and grow our business while aligning with our core values.

The role requires developing and managing a national lobbying strategy, coordinating with external partners and internal teams, and serving as the primary company contact with policymakers.

Qualifications

• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Preferred: working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Preferred: ability to negotiate, handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances with customers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate company priorities - Maintain frequent speaking engagements internally and externally to senior management, large groups and in legislative testimony.
• Develop and manage community events - Organize store walks and engage in community events with elected officials.
• Develop, implement and manage strategy - Develop, implement and manage government relations strategy and legislative agenda, including tracking legislation and direct lobbying. Direct and manage trade associations and external lobbyists.
• Manage The Home Depot's legislative agenda. Provide rapid response to fast-moving legislative priorities including the development of talking points and grassroots campaigns.
• Serve as the company's primary point of contact - Serve as the company's primary point of contact officials. Connect existing company and Foundation programs and relationships to favorably impact public policy issues and enhance our reputation with policy makers and government stakeholders.
