Job summary

State of Washington's Washington Military Department CFMO seeks an experienced GIS Lead to provide strategic and technical leadership across the enterprise geospatial systems.

Reporting to the Planning and Program Branch Chief, the GIS Lead will architect and manage geospatial infrastructure, lead senior staff, and coordinate with federal, state, and regional partners to support master planning and operations at Camp Murray.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geography, geospatial science, computer science, or related field.
• Six years of experience in geographic information systems, cartographic principles, coordinating system transformations, and data interoperability or similar toolset.
• One year of CAD experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and validate geospatial planning data across federal, state, and multi‑jurisdictional boundaries to establish definitive spatial baselines for facilities and capital submissions.
• Architect and standardize the enterprise UI/UX design, application logic, and deployment frameworks for CFMO secure web‑mapping databases; establish agency‑wide layout and functionality standards.
• Provide spatial intelligence and predictive analysis to inform 25‑year long-range master plans and facility decisions.
• Resolve coordinate system mismatches between CAD and GIS datasets and reconcile data across state and federal records.
• Program automated synchronization tools to bridge gaps and translate schemas between local state systems and federal databases.
• Create analysis and decisions for Real Property Development Plans; perform site selection and layout designs for prospective military developments.
• Coordinate cross‑agency data sharing, reconciliations, and enforce statewide geospatial data standards.
