Job summary

Southern Company Gas is seeking a strategic leader to oversee the GIS & Asset Data organization. The role directs geospatial programs, governance, and data standards to support operations, engineering, compliance, and regulatory objectives.

You will partner with business lines, technology teams, and vendors to ensure dependable asset information, safe operations, and data-driven decisions across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Experience leading enterprise GIS and asset data programs for utilities.
• Proven ability to develop strategy, governance, KPIs, and roadmaps.
• Track record of managing cross-functional teams and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Establish GIS and Asset Data strategy, operating model, and roadmaps.
• Lead and coordinate supervisors, employees, contractors, and vendors.
• Develop workforce capability through coaching, performance mgmt., and succession planning.
• Promote safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Lead data standards, stewardship, quality, and lifecycle management.
• Ensure asset records support operations, engineering, compliance, and regulatory needs.
• Lead governance forums and decision-making for geospatial platforms and data ownership.
• Serve as strategic liaison across GIS, Asset Management, Operations, and Technology.
• Identify and sponsor technology investments and modernization initiatives.
• Develop business cases and funding aligned with priorities.
• Oversee budgets, invoices, and financial reporting for the department.
• Provide governance, risk management, and executive reporting for initiatives.
• Ensure initiatives meet scope, schedule, budget and quality targets.
• Support regulatory reporting, audits, and business continuity needs.
