Job summary

Helping Our Women in Massachusetts seeks a Development Director to lead, grow, and implement strategies that support long-term fundraising. You will work with the Executive Director, Chief of Staff, and Development Committee to strengthen donor engagement, expand opportunities, and align operations with the mission.

The role focuses on relationship-building, grant management, major gifts, and a refreshed sponsorship program, plus a signature initiative planned for 2028.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; extensive experience considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated successful grant writing and research, securing major grants.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated success with fundraising, achieving or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Must understand the unique donor landscape and demonstrate a track record of building relationships with donors in the region.
  • Proficient and experience with: CRM/Donor Management Systems, Microsoft OfficeSuite, VIrtual meeting platforms, online giving platforms, social media, email marketing, and digital fundraising tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute fundraising and development strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director and Chief of Staff, along with input from the Board’s Development Committee.
  • Manage grants, applications, and reporting, cultivating a robust pipeline of grant opportunities in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors to increase annual philanthropic support.
  • Establish short- and long-term fundraising strategies and measurable objectives aligned with the organization's priorities and goals.
  • Oversee fundraising process and standardize procedures.
  • Ensure donor database is maintained and oversee gift processing and social media efforts.
  • Strengthen the Board’s fundraising capacity.
  • Meet nonprofit financial compliance requirements and demonstrate thorough understanding of grant and organizational budgets.
  • Work with Executive Director and Development Committee to plan successful fundraising events .
  • Effectively represent the organization in public in collaboration with staff or board members.
