Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking a Director of Foundation Relations to lead its foundation engagement strategy, collaborating with colleges, centers, and faculty to secure six- to seven-figure gifts. The role partners across Advancement, Principal Gifts, and corporate fundraising to align philanthropic efforts with university priorities and long-range strategic plans.

The successful candidate will build executive-level relationships with foundation officers and trustees, translate complex research

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Experience coordinating across cross-functional advancement teams, including collaboration with principal gifts and related fundraising functions.
Experience working with senior institutional leaders and external stakeholders, including foundation program officers, executive leadership, and board members.
Proven success in securing and stewarding six- and seven-figure foundation gifts.

Responsibilities

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward foundation prospects with colleges, centers, programs, and faculty.
Build and sustain relationships with institutional leaders, donors, and program officers.
Lead efforts to secure philanthropic investments advancing institutional priorities.
Partner with Research & Innovation and Advancement teams to drive integrated fundraising strategies.
Travel domestically to engage foundation partners and conduct field activities.
