Job summary

CSPI is seeking a Senior Development Officer to lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of private and institutional funders. You will build a portfolio, develop compelling proposals, and partner with leadership to advance a coordinated pipeline of support.

The role requires deep foundation fundraising expertise and a strong ability to translate CSPI’s science and policy work into funder-ready narratives for a diverse audience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in foundation relations, institutional giving, or grant-focused fundraising, ideally in public health, science, or advocacy-related nonprofits.
• Demonstrated success securing and stewarding six-figure and above foundation grants and building long-term funder relationships.
• Experience developing and executing institutional fundraising strategy, including revenue goals, pipelines, stewardship, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the foundation fundraising strategy, set portfolio goals, and coordinate outreach.
• Oversee all aspects of the fundraising plan, including stewardship and growth of foundation funders.
• Cultivate program officer relationships through regular outreach and stewardship.
• Develop and monitor annual revenue budgets for all foundation funders.
• Translate scientific and policy work into funder-ready narratives with program staff.
