Job summary

Simmons Foods is seeking a Fixed Assets Accountant to identify, record, and track capital spending, ensuring accurate reflection in financial statements in line with policy.

The role collaborates with engineers, plant managers, project managers, and the I.S. department to maintain accurate fixed asset records, capitalize expenditures, and support lease and tax reporting. Strong Excel and Oracle skills are valued.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years accounting or finance experience.
• Previous accounting experience in Fixed Assets or Capital Spending preferred.
• General knowledge and experience working with subledger applications as well as Excel is required.
• Oracle and General Ledger experience preferred.
• Preference for manufacturing or other capital-intensive industry.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and reviews Construction in Progress activity.
• Maintains records of construction in progress on AFE.
• Collaborates with engineers, plant managers, project managers, plant accountants, maintenance managers, AP clerks, and IS to ensure accuracy.
• Capitalizes expenditures and records asset activity details (description, value, location).
• Records fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system (additions, transfers, write-offs, cost adjustments).
• Compiles data related to operating leases, including rolling stock and major machinery leases; supports lease payments.
• Records Fixed Assets activity to the General Ledger and reconciles sub-ledgers to GL.
• Reconciles construction in progress related accounts, gain/loss and prepaid lease accounts.
• Performs month-end journal entries for lease expense and other necessary entries.
• Assists in property tax assessment reporting and government surveys.
• Participates in team activities, communicates policies, and supports continuous improvement.
