Job summary

StaffBuffalo, an established multi-location organization, is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, multi-entity accounting, internal controls, and month-end closes. This on-site role reports to the VP of Accounting & Finance and supervises a Senior Accountant and staff across payable, receivable, and related functions.

You will work through a NetSuite ERP transformation, improve processes, and partner with cross-functional teams on cost accounting,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA strongly preferred but not required.
• At least 4 years of progressive accounting experience; controller/assistant controller preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, GL close processes, and cost accounting.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closes; review journal entries and reconciliations across multiple entities and locations.
• Analyze financial results against budgets; support budgets, forecasts, financial modeling, KPI reporting, and reporting.
• Lead and support accounting staff across AP, AR, and related functions; establish priorities and improve efficiency.
• Maintain GAAP compliance, policies, tax requirements, banking covenants, and lender reporting; strengthen procedures and internal controls.
• Develop cost accounting processes; analyze profitability by division, customer segment, route, and location; identify cost controls.
• Support sales tax compliance in New York State and Ontario; collaborate with operations.
