Job summary

Harvard University’s Department of Health Care Policy seeks a Director of Finance and Research Administration to lead financial operations for sponsored research, budgeting, and compliance. Hybrid Boston-based role reporting to the Executive Director, with a 35 hours per week schedule.

You will manage a team of 4–6, oversee audits, develop annual budgets, forecast financial health, and partner with HMS OoF and ORA to align finances with strategic priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations.
• Supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 4-6 grant managers and a Financial Operations Coordinator.
• Develop the department's annual operating budget and narratives.
• Coordinate internal/external audits and policy compliance.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the Chair and Executive Director.
• Manage payroll, cost changes, and effort reporting.
