Job summary

UMass Amherst is seeking an Executive Director of Finance & Planning to provide strategic leadership for all financial operations including budgeting, accounting, procurement, and payroll. The role partners with the Senior Vice Provost to advise on financial strategy and operational success across OGA units.

The position requires advanced analytic capabilities, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of university financial systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years in a complex financial environment or Master's with 3+ years.
• Experience supervising professional staff and collaborating with diverse teams.
• Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, planning, and policies.
• Advanced Excel and database management skills.
• Ability to transform data into actionable financial decisions and present to non-financial audience.

Responsibilities

• Directs financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting.
• Oversees contract initiation and management with UPST and OGC.
• Leads staff planning and resource allocation; manages unit budgets.
• Acts as liaison to HR on staffing and workforce planning.
