Job summary

University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking an Executive Director of Finance & Planning to lead financial operations within the Office of Global Affairs. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, accounting, procurement, and payroll, ensuring GAAP compliance and adherence to university and governmental regulations.

You will partner with the Senior Vice Provost to align financial strategy with institutional goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree with progressive financial leadership experience.
• 5+ years in a complex financial environment with budget and fiscal responsibility; supervisory experience.
• Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, planning, policies, and procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and other data tools.
• Experience turning data into actionable business decisions and presenting to non-financial audiences.
• Strong writing and oral communication, organizational skills, and prioritization.
• Familiarity with enterprise systems like PeopleSoft is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Directs budgeting, forecasting, analysis, planning, and reporting per GAAP and regulations.
• Manage contracts, procurement, and financial transactions with internal controls.
• Provide leadership to sustain fiscal health and develop funding options.
• Oversee student-related financial activity and revenue streams.
• Collaborate with HR for staffing and workforce planning.
• Advise leadership on confidential matters and policy development.
