Job summary

The University of Connecticut's School of Business seeks an Assistant Dean for Finance to oversee all fiscal management, HR, IT, facilities, and operations. Based at Storrs with coverage of Hartford, Stamford, and Waterbury campuses, the role leads a team and partners with deans, department heads, and staff.

The ADF ensures efficient financial operations, strategic planning, and compliance across units, with occasional travel and after-hours engagements as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in business administration, accounting, human resources, public administration, or related field.
• 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education administration or a similar complex organization.
• Demonstrated experience with fiscal oversight, budget development, and financial analysis.
• Supervisory experience managing professional staff and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant federal, state, and university regulations governing HR, finance, and business operations.
• Demonstrated communication, problem-solving, and policy interpretation skills.
• Experience with human resource management, labor relations, staff evaluations, and/or organizational development.
• Experience in strategic planning, organizational process improvement, or operational efficiency initiatives.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• In consultation with the Dean, develops, evaluates, interprets, and enforces university and School policies, procedures, guidelines, and strategies.
• Oversees business and fiscal services, including budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, audits, and centralization of financial operations for all academic departments, centers, revenue-generating programs, and UConn Foundation partnerships within the School.
• Oversees School of Business relationships with university partner offices (including Provost, Budget Office, OVPR, Bursar, Purchasing, and Travel).
• Supervises key professional staff, including the Executive Director of Administrative Operations & Staff Development, the Executive Director of Technology Operations, and the Dean's Office fiscal team.
• Represents the School of Business on university committees and leadership forums when called on by the Dean.
• Performs other duties as required.
