Job summary

The San Francisco Arts Commission is seeking a Deputy Director of Finance, Administration & Strategy in San Francisco. This role leads the agency's financial stewardship, administrative operations, and strategic execution, reporting to the Executive Director, and coordinating with City partners to deliver public value.

The position requires strong managerial experience in government finance, budgeting, and performance management, with oversight of HR, IT, facilities, procurement, and policy

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of senior-level professional management experience, including supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required; substitution allows up to 2 years of additional qualifying experience.
• Experience in arts, cultural, or public sector organization is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Direct the development and management of the agency's operating and capital budgets.
• Ensure strong fiscal controls, forecasting, long-range financial planning, and transparent reporting.
• Review and approve significant expenditures, contracts, grants, purchase orders, and capital transactions.
• Prepare and present financial reports and recommendations to the Controller's Office, Mayor's Budget Office, Arts Commission, Capital Planning Committee, and executive leadership.
• Lead agency-wide strategic planning, implementation, and performance management.
• Develop agency goals, KPIs, dashboards, and accountability measures to support continuous improvement.
