Job summary

City of Vancouver is seeking a Deputy Finance Director to lead the Financial and Management Services Department as the CFO's principal deputy, guiding budget, accounting, treasury and reporting across the city.

The ideal candidate will bring executive-level public finance leadership, strong judgment, and the ability to translate complex financial information into strategic decisions for City leadership and external partners.

Qualifications

• Eight years of governmental financial administration experience, including leadership roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day department operations, cross-divisional coordination, and execution of department priorities.
• Oversee governmental accounting, financial reporting, GAAP/GASB standards, and ACFR preparation.
• Advise the CFO on fiscal strategy, long-range forecasting, multi-year planning, and debt management.
• Represent the department with executive leadership, City Council and external partners.
