Job summary

The University of Chicago Data Science Institute seeks a Director of Financial Administration and Operations to provide strategic financial leadership and analysis for programs and initiatives. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this role oversees all department-wide financial operations and facilities, including budgeting, forecasting, procurement, revenue generation, and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
• 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
• Experience in financial analysis with expertise in financial systems.
• Familiarity with grant administration and budgetary compliance.
• Strong financial modeling skills within financial platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manages the operations team and oversees daily operations and space planning.
• Manages the budget process for facilities including forecasting, development, management and reporting.
• Develops short- and long-range plans for facility development, maintenance and expansion.
• Leads development and coordination of financial planning and reporting.
• Prepares financial statements, activity reports, and forecasts with focus on budgeting and accounting responsibilities.
• Collaborates with leadership to provide budget guidance, spending analysis and revenue projections.
• Represents the institute's financial interests with internal and external stakeholders.
